What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured two people at Hwy 69 in Montrose, WI on October 12th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 9:40 a.m. A vehicle operated by 23-year-old David Petershein was heading south on Hwy 69 when it crossed a center line and crashed into a power pole. A passing motorist was helping to assist Petershein following the crash when a passing semi-truck struck a downed wired attached to the pole which caused the pole to snap in half and strike the motorist assisting Petershein. That person, an unidentified woman, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Petershein was also hospitalized with minor injuries. The other driver was not injured and remained at the scene.
