What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a collision that killed a person at US 85 near Hawk Springs, WY on November 17th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 10 p.m. A Ford Taurus was reportedly stopped on US 85 waiting ti turn left onto the highway. An approaching tractor-trailer is said to have attempted to pass by the Ford on the shoulder when the Ford, which had previously had a left turn signal active, turned right. The vehicles collided and the driver of the Ford, identified as 18-year-old Korey Bowers, was seriously injured. Bowers was taken to an area hospital and later died from injuries from the crash. A 19-year-old passenger, who was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The driver of the truck and a passenger were not injured. Additional information was not available.
