What Happened

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed one person at US Hwy 70 in Fort Thomas, AZ on March 28th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 6:16 a.m. According to investigators, a semi-truck operated by 58-year-old David Wayne Pinkerton was slowing when it was struck in the rear by a second truck operated by 55-year-old Aaron Wayne Thorson. The force pushed the second truck into a westbound lane where it struck a Nissan Altima operated by 68-year-old Terry Lynn Ripplinger.  Ripplinger suffered fatal injuries in the crash. A passenger, 71-year-old Mary Ann Ballard Ripplinger,, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Police say Thorson was cited for failure to yield.
