What Happened

Los Angeles Police Department officials are investigating a crash involving a semi-truck that killed one person in Sylmar, CA on December 22nd, 2018. Officials say 59-year-old Sergio Miranda Avila was killed when a vehicle he was a passenger in collided with the rear of a semi-truck at the Rexford St and Telfair Ave intersection. Avila was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was hospitalized and later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
