What Happened

A Butler woman suffered fatal injuries following a two-vehicle collision at US 6 in DeKalb County, IN on March 7th, 2023. Police say it occurred around 6:30 p.m. and named 30-year-old Chantel Wells as the victim. According to investigators, Wells was in a vehicle headed eastbound that is alleged to have traveled into the path of an oncoming semi-truck for unknown reasons. The two vehicles collided, sending her vehicle into a ditch where it overturned. Wells was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, identified as 57-year-0old Stacy Hagerty, was hospitalized with minor injuries. At this time, there are no additional details available.
