What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at Hwy 156 near Garden City, KS on January 18th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 8:25 a.m. According to investigators, a semi-truck towing livestock was traveling westbound. A second cattle truck was attempting a left turn from a rest stop onto the highway when it puled into the path of the first truck. The two vehicles collided and one vehicle veered into a south ditch in the impact. The driver, 27-year-old Maritza Ruiz, was hospitalized with serious injuries. The other driver was uninjured.
