What Happened

Ohio State Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a teen at SR 163 and North Toussaint Portage Rd in Ottawa County, OH on March 14th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:08 p.m. Police say a Chevrolet Silverado operated by a 16-year-old male was headed northbound on Toussaint Portage Rd before allegedly failing to yield at a stop sign. It then traveled into the path of a Kenworth truck operated by a 58-year-old Howard man that was headed eastbound on SR 163. The vehicles collided, pushing both vehicles from the road and sending one into a westbound Ford van operated by a 36-year-old Beford man. The teen suffered fatal injuries in the crash while both other drivers are believed to have suffered injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening. There was no additional information to share.
