What Happened

Odessa Police are investigating a collision that injured a child at Lynbrook and Monclair Ave in Odessa, TX on March 8th, 2023. Officials say the incident happened around 3:53 p.m. According to investigators, a school bus was headed eastbound on Lynbrook before stopping at the intersection with Monclair. At the intersection, the bus turned right as an 11-year-old on a bicycle approached. Officers say it is possible the bicycle had a malfunction with its breaks that left it unable to stop and resulted in it traveling into the path of bus. The bus struck the front tire of the bicycle and the child was thrown from bike before being struck by a bus tire. The child had serious injuries in the incident, according to police.
