What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at Coit Rd in Richardson, TX on September 5th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 9:39 p.m. According to investigators, a BMW X3 operated by a 31-year-old Dallas woman was traveling northbound on Coit Rd as a Jeep Cherokee operated by 52-year-old Christopher Hooper was pulling out of a parking lot ahead. The two vehicles collided, causing fatal injuries to Hooper and serious injuries to the Dallas woman. Officials say witnesses informed them the BMW was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash and expressed suspicion the woman was under the influence at the time of the collision. A charge for Intoxication Manslaughter was recommended and/or issued.
