Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a person at State Hwy 16 in Atascosa County, TX on January 14th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford Maverick operated by 33-year-old Crystal Rivera Ruiz was going southbound on Hwy 173 when it turned left to go northbound at a merge point. Officers say the vehicle failed to yield and traveled into the that of a tractor-trailer, the two vehicles colliding in the process. The crash left Ruiz with fatal injuries.
