What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that injured a driver at US 70 in Floyd County, TX on September 9th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Investigators say a GMC Sierra operated by 52-year-old Ricardo Hernandez was crossing US 70 when it failed to yield to a westbound Chevrolet Silverado operated by 58-year-old Jose Ortiz. The Silverado struck the left of the Sierra, pushing it into a bar ditch and causing serious injuries to both drivers. Officers allege suspicion that Hernandez was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
