What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a person at US 290 in Harris County, TX on February 26th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Tundra operated by 51-year-old Darron Lee Grimes was headed eastbound on US 290 before colliding with the rear of a Hyundai Elantra operated by a 23-year-old driver. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Mariano Vega, is said to have been seriously injured. Following the crash, due to the Toyota allegedly fleeing the scene, officers recommended a Failure to Stop and Render Aid charge against Grimes. Additional information was not available.
