What Happened

A passenger was identified as the victim in a single-vehicle crash at Hwy 281 in Live Oak County, TX on March 6th, 2023. Police say it happened around 5:50 a.m. Authorities named 49-year-old Raul Michael Ortiz as the victim. Police say the crash involved a Chevrolet Avalanche veering from the road for known reasons. While attempting to perform evasive action, the vehicle lost control and went into a skid before overturning several time. The driver, who has not been named, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene. Additional information was not available at this time.
