What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a child at State Hwy 349 in Martin County, TX on January 16th, 2023.  Police say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Investigators say a Nissan Altima occupied by three people was head eastbound on Hwy 349 before veering to the south side of the road. The vehicle next struck a fence before hitting a utility pole, killed a 1-year-old child in the vehicle, The driver and other passenger were hospitalized in stable condition. They were identified as 27-year-old Rene Martinez-Gonzalez and 29-year-old Perla Mireya Arsiniega. Additional details were not available.
