What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information on a crash that killed a driver at I-35 near Troy, TX on October 15th, 2022. Officers believe it happened around 4:30 a.m. According to their investigators, a Chevrolet Cruz operated by 31-year-old Sambria Shaley Canty was headed northbound in a southbound lane of I-35 prior to colliding with a GMC van. The Chevrolet became disabled as a result of the collision before it was struck by an approaching tractor-trailer. It was also struck by a Toyota Tacoma. Canty was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, dying on October 17th. Three occupants of the Toyota suffered minor injuries while the GMC operator and occupants of the tractor-trailer were uninjured. Additional details were not available.
