What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at State Hwy 87 in Newton County, TX on November 18th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:56 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by an unnamed 50-year-old Beaumont man was headed northbound on State Hwy 87 approaching a curve in the road. A Ford F-150 operated by 50-year-old Wesley Mitchell was headed southbound when the vehicle veered from its lane and collied with the tractor-trailer. The impact caused Mitchell to be ejected from the vehicle, leaving him with serious injuries. The Beaumont man was not injured. Additional information was not available.
