What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at Hwy 281 and County Rd 116 in Jim Wells County, TX on May 16th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 10:08 p.m. According to investigators, an GMC Terrain is alleged to have been headed eastbound on County Road 116 before colliding with a semi-truck at the intersection with Hwy 281. Authorities allege one of the vehicles may have failed to yield right of away at the intersection. The driver of the GMC, identified as 72-year-old Yolanda Ganoa, was taken to an area hospital with injuries she later died from. A rear seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle and also died. A second child passenger was hospitalized in crucial condition.
