What Happened

A mother was killed in a crash that left her children and husband seriously injured at Solar Dr in Mission, TX on January 16th, 2023. Police say it happened around 12:46 a.m. The woman, identified as Irene Trevino, and her family were occupants of a Ford Explorer headed eastbound on Hwy 495. Officers allege a GMC Yukon traveling at a high rate of speed ran a red light while headed southbound on Mayberry Street. The two vehicles collided at the intersection, leaving Trevino dead at the scene. Her three children and husband, Oscar, were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The other driver, Jose Martin Vela, is alleged to have been intoxicated and faces intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault charges. Police did not disclose additional information.
